Authority, Date

6 Genera, 3 monotypic; 19 species

Dendrochirote holothruains of medium size with 15-20 tentacles and a large, often tubular, calcareous ring. The radialia and interradialia are both mosaic like and composed of many small pieces. The lengthened interradialia are often fused with the forked tails of the radialia. The calcareous bodies are only towers with two or three columns. (Heding & Panning, 1954)

Calcareous ring with very long posterior projections; both ring and projections made up of a mosaic of minute pieces. Tentacles 15-20. Calcareous deposits, tables, each with a spire composed of 2 or 4 rods. (Pawson, 1970)

Dendrochirotid holothurians with 15-20 tentacles. Calcareous ring well developed, often tubular; radial and interradial plates always broken into a mosaic of small pieces, posterior prolongations of radial and often the interradials also subdivided. Body wall spicules 2-4 pillared tables or their derivatives; in Cladolella virgo spinous rods occur while in Neothyonidium arthroprocessum short, thick perforated rods are found. (Thandar, 1990)
