Phyllophrus (Phyllophorus)

Heding & Panning, 1954

6 species

Medium sized dendrochirote holothurians with 20 tentacles in two circles (15+5). The calcareous ring is composed of short, forked tails. The radalia themselves and also the tails are composed of only a few large pieces. The podia in larger animals are spread evenly over the body. The calcareous bodies of the epidermis have either very scarce four-column towers or they are missing. There are then merely on the base of the dorsal podial plates, a network of many layered hill shaped attachments. (Heding & Panning, 1954)
