Type species is Holothuria graeffi (Semper, 1868), no monotypes, Indo-Pacific. Buccal tentacles are elongated and shield shaped. Body wall thick, and soft, The ventral ambulacral tube feet are large, coarse, and are arranged tremya in distinct rows. Has 25 very large tube feet. Spicules in skin are tables consists of rods and numerous irregularly shaped branches the ends of which can fuse, and peculiar pin shaped ossicle. The original component of glycoside fraction appears to be holothurin A2. The genus is named in honor of J. Pearson, specialist in holothurian systematics. The diagnosis partially (principally) based on the chemical characteristics of the saponins, triterpene glycosides, found in this holothurian. (Levin, 1984)
