Body elongate, more or less cylindrical, reaching a length of up to 100 mm. Ten tentacles, with the ventral-most 2 smaller than the remaining eight. Podia restricted to the ambulacral areas. In double rows along the three ventral ambulacra and in a single row along each of the two dorsal ambulacra. Calcareous ring without posterior bifurcations on the radial plates, but the two ventral most radial and adjacent interradial plates are fused solidly together. Spicules of the body wall comprise smooth, mask shaped, two holed or diamond shaped to rhomboidal, four holed buttons, the latter sometimes with one or two extra holes at each end. A more superficial layer of small stellate spicules also present. (Rowe, 1970)
