Patinapta

Tentacles pinnate, usually 12. Sense organs never in the form of pigment eyes, but occur as sensory cups on the oral side of the tentacles. Radial pieces of the calcareous ring perforated for the nerves. Cartilaginous ring wanting. Polian vesicles few, 1-8. Stone canal single, unbranched. Shape of ciliated funnels varying. Funnels being only found on the inner side of the body wall. Calcareous deposits in body wall: anchors, anchor plates, and miliary granules. In tentacles, rather large rods. Shape of anchors from posterior end of body peculiar and typical of the genus. Anterior anchors much shorter and with thicker arms; different in shape from those posterior. Shape of anchor plates is that of anchors, very characteristic of the genus, those anterior being usually much larger and never smaller than those posteriorly. Anterior end of plates from anterior of body perforated by holes varying in number, the larger of which are somewhat dented. Bridge is wanting and articulation of the anchors often very faint or wanting. Anchor plates from posterior end of body cannot be divided into anterior part and distinct articular end. All articulations with anchors may be wanting, and the plates may be highly reduced. (Heding, 1928)
