A synaptid genus with 12 tentacles, each with 2 pairs of digits, but lacking a terminal digit; eye spots present or absent between the bases of tentacles; spicules from body wall are anchors, anchor plates and miliary granules; anchors with stock toothed but not branched, serrations on flukes, vertex smooth; plates usually narrowing and rounded anteriorly, no bridge, perforated by smooth holes, rarely more than 35, two holes near the center of plate conspicuously the largest, posterior region of plate abruptly narrow, handle-like, perforated by one or a few holes; Polian vesicles usually single, ciliated funnels present.
