Body cylindrical or sub cylindrical, with pedicels all over. Deposits of tube feet reduced tables. Tables normally quadriradiate, though triradiate to septemradiate tables may occur. Only one layer of deposits in the body wall, all normal tables. From key. (Heding, 1942)

* Type uncertain but because only Mesothuria (Penichrothuria) cathedralis is described in detail, this may be the type by monotypy. (Heding, 1942)
