Deima

Body oval, flattened; mouth and anus ventral; tentacles 14 (15-20) retractile. Tube feet of ventro lateral ambulacra in a single row; mid ventral ambulacrum naked. A single row of long stiff papillae along each side of the body and along each of the dorsal ambulacra. Skin rather hard, the numerous rounded, perforate plates forming almost a continuous skeleton. (Mortensen, 1927)

Tentacles 18-20, retractile into the oral cavity; discs with rounded knobs on the margin. Circumoral papillae present. Deposits perforated plates, consisting of one or several layers of meshwork. (Hansen, 1975)
