Caudinidae

Heding, 1931

6 genera, 1 monotypic; 33 species

Molpadiids with 15 tentacles with ampullae present. Stone canal short and only opening into the body cavity. Longitudinal muscles paired and often supplied with distinct retractors. Caudal appendage more or less developed except in Acaudina. (Heding 1931)

Tentacles with 1 or 2 pairs digits, but no terminal digit. Deposits large tables or plates, or small crossed cups, or irregular bodies. No phosphatic bodies, but discoloration of skin may occur in older individuals of some species. (Pawson, 1970)
