Body more or less depressed, mouth ventral, some distance from anterior end; anus dorsal. Tentacles 12 (?) -20. Tube feet in a double row in the mid-ventral radius; laterally the feet are united in a web. Dorsal papillae in variable numbers, sometimes absent, small insignificant and easily overlooked. Sometimes large dorsal appendages, whose number is variable. Deposits few, often very large, cross shaped spinous rods with an outer central projection, or simple spinous rods. (Mortensen, 1927; Deichmann, 1930)

Anus dorsal, Unpaired dorsal appendage absent. Circumoral (or post oral) papillae present. Tentacles soft, pliable and retractile. (Hansen, 1975)
