Body elongate, cylindrical to quadrangular, reaching a length of up to 110 mm. 8 to 10 tentacles with the two ventral most smaller than the remaining ones. Podia more or less restricted to the ambulacral areas, in irregular triple or even quadruple rows along the three ventral ambulacra and in double rows along each of the two dorsal ambulacra. Calcareous ring sometimes with posterior bifurcation of the radial plates, the ventral most radial and adjacent interradial plates fused solidly together. Spicules of the body wall comprise four holes, nodular buttons and a more superficial layer of baskets. (Rowe, 1969)
