Bibliography

We are tracking down and assembling a bibliography of literature relevant to the taxonomy of our focus group. These citations primarily derive from the personal libraries of AWG members. Initially, we are concentrating on works providing original species descriptions and subsequent revisionary acts of aspidochirotes. However, we plan to include the primary literature of all holothuroid nomina to facilitate future revisions of other higher level taxa.

From Book I, Pliny. 1481. Historia Naturalis. Parma: Andreas Portilia. Pre-Linnaean Literature
References to holothuroids and names ascribed to holothuroids from Ancient times to, and including, Linnaeus. Includes a few notable post-Linnaean papers, as well, e.g., Cuvier, Ludwig and Terajima.
From Figure 2, Uthicke et al 2004 Marine and Freshwater Research 55: 837 Systematics literature
A bibliography of works providing original species descriptions and subsequent revisionary acts of aspidochirotes and other holothuroids since, and including, Linnaeus. Includes phylogenetic and palaeontological literature.
From Figure x, Other scientific literature
A bibliography of works covering holothuroid ecology, development, cell biology, chemistry, anatomy, beche-de-mer, physiology and reproduction.
From Back cover, R D Gill 2003 Rise, Ye Sea Slugs! Paraverse Press FL Literary and cultural references
During our work, we constantly stumble across literary references and cultural allusions to holothuroids. Thus, in the spirit of bridging C.P. Snow's "The Two Cultures," we offer this collection here.
