The Bronze Sweeper is a common inhabitant of seaward reefs from depths of 1 to at least 36 m and occasionally occurs on certain lagoon reefs.  During the day it hovers in small groups under ledges of surge channels or in coral caves; at night it migrates over the reef to feed on benthic and planktonic crustaceans, other small invertebrates, and fishes.
