Juvenile Bigeye Trevally occasionally occur with juvenile C. melampygus and make up a small proportion of local Ee catches.  They are sometimes very abundant around the fish-aggregating device buoys.  Large adults occur in smaller schools or singly in deep lagoon, channel, and seaward reef waters where they prey on small fishes and crustaceans, principally during the night.
