CHAMORRO NAMES

HAEMULIDAE (SWEETLIPS)

Sweetlips are large, thick-lipped, nocturnal predators of benthic invertebrates.  They lack canine teeth and tend to have smaller scales than do snappers.  Sweetlips are relatively easy to spear and have become scarce in shallow water around Guam.
