UOGML Alumni
There are over 130 graduates of the Marine Lab, those in Masters in Biology program and the recently instituted Masters in Environmental Science program that have completed their thesis under the direction of Marine Lab faculty. Of the 71 (58%) alumni for which we could obtain data, 96% have remained in the field of biology, working in government, education, research or consulting. The Marine Lab draws students from around the globe. Our students hail from 19 countries and U.S. territories. One out of ten graduates is from Micronesia, including Guam; nearly all of whom have returned to the region, often after continuing their professional education elsewhere. In fact, despite our decidedly international character, over 60% of our graduates have remained in the Pacific islands of Micronesia or Polynesia, over half of these on Guam.
